Winemaker Notes
Celso Pereira and Jorge Alves are two of the most resilient winemakers in Portugal's Douro Valley. They met at the Department of Oenology in the Caves Transmontanas, where they both shared a goal of having their own estate. In 1998, Jorge and Celso began scouring the Douro Valley to find the perfect vineyard site for their winery, Quanta Terra. After extensively researching soils, vines, grafts, exposure, altitude, slope, grape varietals and vine age, they settled on a vineyard in Tralhão in the Douro Superior region. They produced their first wine in 1999 and have been making artisanal wine from their vineyard since.
It reveals a lot of ripe black and red fruits in the nose. In the mouth it has a good structure, anchored in round tannins. A wine very well achieved, greedy and balanced. Very good with game dishes and soft cheeses.
